SATTAS is the first Turkish reggae musical band, formed in Istanbul, Turkey ; composed of Orçun Sünear (Vocals), Derya Eke (Drums, Nyahbingi), Öykü Gülata (Bass), Sami Dönmez (Guitars), Faruk Demir Tugayoğlu (Keys), Seçkin Özmutlu (Trombone), Mert Fehmi Alatan (Trompet), Emir Erünsal (Sax). In July 2012, the band released the debut album composed of 12 unique songs, which are nice mixtures of Turkish and the reggae sound, and then became truly the pioneer of reggae music in Turkey with the plight of that a greater life in peace and love is closer than anyone thinks of.
In July 2016, the band has plan to release two singles and after that
the second album composed of 10 songs.
The band received on-air on major TV channels and radio stations, and appeared on almost all major newspapers, magazine, and many concert platforms nationwide, such as Montreal Jazz Festival 2016, Rototom 2016, Sziget 2016, Rock'n Coke, One Love, Sunday Sky, Chill Out Festival, Siren Reggae Festival 1, 2 & 3, Unite in Paradise Reggae Festival, Barisarock, Radar live, Life Park, Harvest Festival, Cyprus Sundance Reggae Festival and Ruhr Reggae Summer Festival in Dortmund 2015 and had gigs in so many clubs such as Babylon (Istanbul), Hayal Kahvesi (Istanbul,Ankara, Bursa…), Jolly Joker
(Istanbul), DoRockXL (Kadikoy/Istanbul) Noxus(Ankara)etc…
Tango to Budhha (Kyrenia), Sazz n Jazz (Brussel), Cross Club (Prague).
The band also built its reputation by performing with many
Reggae Top Stars including U-Brown, U-Roy, Big Youth, The Wailers, Don Carlos, Dawn Penn, Mikey Dread, Anthony-B, Scarra Mucci, Zacheus Jackson, Mecca, Friendly Fire, Manu Chao, Mykal “Grammy” Rose.
Aligning themselves as an opponent to the status quo in Turkey, the lyrics are including political burlesque in the way of love & peace. As their roots are deeply reggae, they mix with sympathetic elements of the ska, rock, jazz, and dub into their music.
The band is always looking for new stages in order to spread peace, Love and Joy all over the world and to share and spread their Eastern Reggae Sounds to sisters n brothers by mean of you.
